A formal pond constructed of masonry was to be included in the landscaping package for a residential development in Prestbury. Eccleston Engineering was approached by Matt Nichol Garden Design and asked to provide a permanent former which presented a rigid substrate for the flexible pond liner and also acted as a secondary containment should the flexible liner fail in the future.

The pond former had to be water-tight, sturdy enough to withstand the rigours of site activities and also light enough to be manually handled into place.

Eccleston Engineering designed and built an aluminium pond former comprised of sheet material for the walls and base, whilst an exoskeleton frame provided the strength. All internal joins were fully welded and tested for water-tightness.

Eccleston Engineering worked closely with Matt Nichol Garden Design to ensure the pond former provided all the necessary attributes of interacting with several operations on site, such as bricklaying, plastic lining, landscaping and manual handling.

Throughout the entire process we always considered the requirement to deliver this project safely, reliably and to the highest standard.
